About Snake River - Magic Valley
The Snake River in Idaho's Magic Valley offers varied fishing, from canyon stretches to reservoirs. Prominent features include the Snake River Canyon, spanned by the Perrine Bridge at Twin Falls, and several reservoirs: Bliss, CJ Strike, Lake Walcott, Twin Falls, and Upper Salmon Falls. These segments range from the Bliss Reservoir to Lower Salmon Dam, CJ Strike Reservoir to Bliss Dam, and Lake Walcott to American Falls Dam. The Upper Salmon Falls Reservoir to Shoshone Falls segment is primitive, lacking boat ramps, docks, toilets, campgrounds, or ADA access. Anglers here will find a diverse fishery. White Sturgeon are present, strictly catch-and-release, and must not be removed from the water. Rainbow Trout, including Triploid and Cutbow, are common, as are Brown Trout, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Cutthroat Trout, Kokanee, Yellow Perch, Mountain Whitefish, Chinook Salmon, and Bluegill. Bass have a combined daily bag limit of six, none under 12 inches. Brook Trout have a generous daily limit of 25. Kokanee are limited to six per day, and Bull Trout are catch-and-release only.
