Report Summary for Oct 2025
This year: Flow has been good and the water clear on the 13th, with excellent fishing quality reported. Later in the month, the flow dropped to low but remained clear, with good fishing quality. When the flow was good, small mayfly patterns, midges, and soft hackles worked well through the afternoon. Dry-fly anglers saw consistent topwater action with BWOs and caddis during overcast days. On the 27th, with low flow, stealth and light presentations were key. Nymphs like zebra midges, small pheasant tails, and hare’s ears were productive. Look for light BWO hatches in the afternoons. The water temperature was 42°F on the 27th. Expect hatches of Blue Wing Olives and Caddis, along with midges. Small mayfly patterns, midges, and soft hackles are effective. For nymphs, try zebra midges, pheasant tails, and hare's ears. Match your fly sizes to the natural hatch – small and subtle is the key.
