About Logan River

The Logan River is a blue-ribbon freestone stream in Northern Utah offering diverse fly fishing opportunities for brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout. This classic pocket water, riffles, and seam lines are renowned for significant insect activity, including salmon flies, green drakes, and grey drakes. The lower section, near Cutler Reservoir, features stocked rainbow trout and the potential for large brown trout, with abundant populations between impoundments. Moving upstream, the river transitions to quality mountain fishing, with special regulations in certain stretches for artificial flies and lures only, where anglers can target brown trout, whitefish, and cutthroat. The upper reaches present smaller water and thick vegetation, providing excellent opportunities for brook trout and cutthroat. Accessibility varies, with well-trafficked areas near Logan and more remote sections further up the canyon.
