Report Summary for Mar 2026
This year: Flows on the Green River B Section have been stable, holding around 850 CFS, with water temperatures averaging 41°F. Fishing quality has been consistently good. On the upper B section, a Midge hatch typically begins around 10 am in the mornings, followed by Blue Wing Olives appearing around noon, with their numbers increasing daily. For these hatches, small dry flies like a Midge Adult Dry or Griffiths Gnat on 5-6x tippet can be very productive on calm days. Additionally, don't overlook dry-dropper rigs using terrestrials such as ants, beetles, crickets, or cicadas, fished with 4x tippet. Beyond the surface action, nymph rigs and streamers remain highly effective throughout the B Section. For nymphing, patterns like a PGH Quill Midge or Bling Midge on 5x or 6x tippet are recommended. On the lower B, committing to streamers with 0X tippet and a slow retrieval has been a particularly successful method.
Best time of day: Morning
Prior years: Flow is high at 1200 cfs. Nymph rigs and streamers are the most effective methods on the B Section. Anglers should commit to streamers on lower B. Chironomids (Midges) are present.
