About Fremont River - Middle

The Middle Fremont River, located in Capitol Reef Country, presents a challenging yet rewarding fly fishing experience for trophy-sized trout. This section is home to brown, rainbow, and splake trout, with occasional opportunities for tiger trout and cutthroat. Anglers will find abundant hatches including Midges, Baetis, Olive Stoneflies, Golden Stones, Tricos, and a variety of Caddisflies, making dry fly fishing a viable option. While much of this stretch flows through private land, access is possible via unpaved dirt roads, though it remains the least accessible part of the Fremont. Streamer fishing is often highly effective for enticing the largest fish in these crystal-clear waters.
