About Yellow Breeches Stream

The Yellow Breeches Creek is a 49-mile limestone stream in Pennsylvania's Cumberland Valley, averaging 60 feet wide and renowned for its excellent trout fishing. This Pennsylvania Scenic Waterway, originating in Michaux State Forest, is well-stocked with both rainbow and brown trout, and also supports wild brown trout populations. Anglers will find varied terrain suitable for wading and floating, with specific interest in "The Run" at Boiling Springs, a heavily stocked, catch-and-release, artificials-only section. The stream is known for prolific insect activity common to limestone environments, including Caddis, Grannom Caddis, Golden Stone, Hendrickson, Sulphurs, Grey Fox, and Blue Wing Olives. Nearby amenities include the historic Allenberry Resort and the family-friendly New Cumberland Borough Park.
