About Tulpehocken Creek

Tulpehocken Creek is a 39.5-mile tailwater tributary of the Schuylkill River in Southeast Pennsylvania, offering excellent trout fishing opportunities with sections up to 120 feet wide. This Pennsylvania Scenic River is home to numerous rainbow and brown trout, averaging 12 to 14 inches. The creek features a diverse habitat including riffles, pocket water, and slower pools, with key hatches including Blue Wing Olives, Caddis (various species), Little Black Stoneflies, Little Brown Stoneflies, Sulphurs, Light Cahills, Tricos, Terrestrials, and Midges, providing consistent opportunities for dry fly fishing. Approximately four miles of Delayed Harvest waters, managed as a Keystone Select Fishery with larger stocked fish, are accessible to wade fishermen, particularly below Blue Marsh Dam and Water Works.
