About Penns Creek

Penns Creek, a 35-mile stream in north-central Pennsylvania, originates from Penn's Cave and flows downstream, widening considerably and offering exceptional fly fishing conditions. While stocked with rainbows, the creek is renowned for its robust population of wild brown trout, with larger browns congregating in the faster-moving waters below Coburn. Anglers will find excellent opportunities for dry fly, nymphing, and streamer fishing, particularly when major hatches are active, including ISO, Blue Quill, Trico, Tan Caddis, Midges, BWO, Light Cahill, Stoneflies, and Terrestrials. The section below Coburn, where Penns Creek converges with Elk and Pine Creeks, is particularly productive due to abundant aquatic insects and varied terrain with rapids, pools, and riffles.
