About Neshannock Creek

Neshannock Creek is a 25.65-mile tributary of the Shenango River in Northwest Pennsylvania, renowned for its excellent fly fishing opportunities. This stream features a 2.7-mile Delayed Harvest Artificial Lure Only section, designated as a Keystone Select Water, which receives special stockings of larger trout. Anglers can expect good hatches of insects including Grannom, Tan Caddis, Dark Brown Caddis, Green Caddis, Sulphur Dun & Spinner, March Brown, Light Cahill, Brown Drake, Red Quill, Blue Winged Olive, Green Drake & Coffin, Slate Drake, Big Slate Drake, and White Mayfly. The most popular fishing spot is located upstream from the man-made waterfall to the Main Street Bridge. A 9-foot 5-weight fly rod with floating line is recommended for dry fly and nymph fishing, along with 3X to 5X tippet.
