About Hickory Run

Hickory Run offers a scenic fly fishing experience within Hickory Run State Park, featuring a picturesque stream known for its wild brown and brook trout populations. Anglers can anticipate significant insect activity with hatches of Blue Wing Olives and Caddis, making it ideal for nymphing and dry fly presentations. Several tributaries, including Fourth Run, Hawk Run, and Sand Spring Run, provide additional opportunities, with Hawk Run classified as a Class A Wild Trout Stream. Sections of Hickory Run, from Saylorsville Dam to the Lehigh River, are designated catch and release with artificial lures and barbless hooks only. Accessible wading sections are available, and Hickory Run Lake is also stocked trout water.
