About Hickory Creek - East

East Hickory Creek, a scenic stream in Northwest Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest, offers excellent fly fishing for stocked brown and rainbow trout, as well as wild brown and native brook trout, particularly in its headwaters. A popular 1.7-mile stretch features delayed harvest, artificial lure-only regulations, boasting deep pools, pockets, and abundant woody structure along its 20- to 40-foot width. Anglers can anticipate significant hatches including Green Drake, Slate Drake, March Brown, Light Cahill, Blue Winged Olive, Hendrickson, and Quill Gordon. Access is available via township roads off State Route 62, with opportunities for wading and nymphing, and a 9-foot 4-weight rod with 4X-6X tippet is recommended.
