About Dunbar Creek

Dunbar Creek, a 12.6-mile stream in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, offers a recovering fishery for brook and brown trout, with occasional rainbow trout sightings. Anglers can find success in the popular Catch-and-Release Flyfishing Only section near the Game Commission Building, as well as in the more remote upper reaches within State Game Lands No. 51, where wild brook and brown trout reside. Sporadic hatches of March Browns, Green Drakes, Sulphurs, and various caddis flies are reported, making it a promising location for dry fly and nymphing tactics. A 9-foot 4-weight fly rod is well-suited for tackling this stream.
