About Bowman Creek
Bowman Creek is a 26-mile freestone tributary of the Susquehanna River in Northeast Pennsylvania, widening to 40-60 feet near Noxen Township. This relatively shallow, tea-colored stream supports both stocked and wild populations of brook, brown, and rainbow trout, making it suitable for anglers of all skill levels. Significant insect activity includes hatches of Black and Brown Early Stoneflies, Blue Quills, Spotted Sedges, Cinnamon Sedges, Hendricksons, Sulphurs, March Browns, Blue-Winged Olives, Slate Drakes, and Tricos. While much of the stream is easily accessible for wading, the upper reaches require a hike and can offer larger brook trout. A mile-long Catch-and-Release, Flyfishing Only section is also available near the confluence of Marsh Creek, and anglers typically find success with a 9-foot 4-weight fly rod for dry flies and small nymphs.
