Report Summary for Sep 2026
This year: The Ruby River is a great option as we head into September, especially when water temperatures and flows remain favorable for trout. Above the reservoir near Alder, flows are stable, averaging around 91 CFS and ranging between 81 and 104 CFS. Please note that angling is closed year-round just below Ruby Dam, from its confluence with the Ruby Dam outlet channel upstream to the dam. On the water, you can expect to see plenty of Pale Morning Duns and Yellow Sallies. Nymphing worm patterns trailed by PMD emergers is consistently productive for putting fish in the net, though swinging streamers is another highly effective tactic for targeting active trout.
