Report Summary for Sep 2026
This year: Cooler weather has made the creek an excellent place to spend the day. Success here requires patience, so avoid fishing the creek too fast and don't rush to tie on your first fly. Instead, take a few minutes to watch the water and observe the fish before making your first cast. The morning trico hatch is still active, and overcast afternoons have started bringing a few baetis into the mix. If you do not see active rising fish, shift your focus sub-surface. Drifting small nymphs, scuds, or sowbugs is highly effective during slower periods. When fishing sub-surface, look to classic patterns like a Zebra Midge, Perdigon, or Lightning Bug. If fish are keyed in on emerging midges or small mayflies near the surface, a Sprout Midge is an excellent choice to present to picky trout.
