About Depuy's Spring Creek

DePuy Spring Creek, Montana's largest and longest spring creek, offers approximately three miles of diverse fly fishing terrain, including riffles, runs, deep pools, and weed-channeled sections, with a float-tube pond also available. This naturally regulated environment is home to wild Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat Trout, which often continue feeding despite imperfect presentations due to their acclimation to anglers. Key insect hatches include Blue Winged Olives, Caddis, Midges, and Pale Morning Duns, driving opportunistic subsurface feeding, though dry fly and streamer opportunities also exist. Anglers will find cleared trails and warming huts along the creek, with a float-tube pond also available. This "pay-to-play" fishery limits anglers to 16 per day and is known for its clear, slow-moving water, making precise nymphing, particularly at inflows and outflows, a successful strategy.
