About Big Spring Creek
Big Spring Creek is a 30-mile premier trout stream in central Montana, originating from a powerful artesian spring and flowing through diverse landscapes before reaching the Judith River. This easily accessible waterway, averaging 30 to 45 feet in width, is home to abundant brown and rainbow trout, including trophy-sized specimens. Anglers will find excellent opportunities for dry fly fishing, particularly during hatches of Caddis, Golden Stone, and Blue Wing Olive. With seven Montana FWP maintained Fishing Access Sites and the nearby town of Lewistown, Big Spring Creek offers convenient access for anglers of all skill levels, eliminating the need for long hikes. The stream's clear, cool water, remaining around 52 degrees year-round, can make trout selective, demanding precise presentations.
