STP Frog

The STP (Swimming Topwater Popping) Frog, created by Tony Tomsu of River Road Creations, is a simple yet highly effective warmwater pattern designed for bass and other surface-oriented predators. Its clamshell foam construction allows it to land upright almost every time, while the broad profile and built-in buoyancy create a natural swimming and popping action that closely imitates a live frog on the surface. Lightweight, durable, and easy to tie, the STP Frog combines realism with fish-triggering movement that holds up cast after cast.

Add a tiny dab of floatant only to the back third of the frog, leaving the head untreated. This creates a subtle nose-dip on the pause, which resembles a frog settling its weight before a jump. That quiet forward tilt often draws strikes from fish that have followed but haven’t fully committed.
