Description
The Span Juan, also called the Floss Worm - designed by Umpqua Signature Tyer Brad Miller, is a streamlined variation of the classic San Juan Worm pattern, created to present a more subtle and sleek profile that appeals to fish in pressured or clear water. The fly features super-skinny Spanflex material, which gives the worm an extremely lifelike appearance with just the right amount of flexibility and movement in the water. What sets the Span Juan apart from the traditional San Juan Worm or Flex worm is the addition of double glass beads that provide an extra level of attraction. The beads catch and reflect light in the water, drawing fish’s attention from a greater distance
Pro Tip
The double glass beads on the Span Juan are there for more than just weight. When the light hits the beads just right, they reflect a subtle shine, mimicking a worm’s natural movement in the water. Cast the fly in areas where light penetration is good to maximize the visual attraction of the beads, especially on overcast days or in slightly murky water.
