Red Fox Squirrel Nymph image

Description

The Red Fox Squirrel Nymph was created by Dave Whitlock back in the late 1960s and it is considered one of his best nymph patterns. This fly can be used for everything from Mayfly, stonefly, to Caddis you just cannot go wrong with it. Drift it under an indicator, swing it, or strip it. The original reddish brown color is by far the best option.

Pro Tip

Swing it Upstream: Allow the nymph to swing at the end of a dead drift to imitate an emerging insect. This technique can trigger aggressive strikes, especially during hatch activity.
