Description
The Iris Caddis is a low floating caddis emerger pattern that utilizes a very unkempt body and wing configuration to match up to the naturals. A Zelon shuck trails from the back of the fly further enhancing the crippled/emerger look. This pattern comes from Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone. Fish as a dry or emerger.
Pro Tip
Fish the Iris Caddis during early morning or late evening when caddisflies are actively emerging. Use a 5x tippet to present the fly delicately on the water's surface, allowing it to float low and mimic the natural emergence behavior. This pattern is especially effective on selective trout that are feeding on emerging caddisflies
