Description

The Intruder style of fly was most likely originated by Ed Ward & Jerry French. They developed the pattern for Alaskan salmon as well as steelhead in the early 90's. The Intruder’s combination of a large profile, movement, and translucent look with minimal materials, along with its shank-style construction, revolutionized large-profile steelhead flies.

Pro Tip

Fish with a Floating Line in Low Flows: Swap the sink-tip for a floating line and fish the Intruder in shallow or low-flow rivers. The lighter presentation will keep the fly dancing just above the substrate, imitating natural movement without spooking fish.
