Wet Flies

Description
Wet Flies, intended for fishing below the water's surface, serve as both a deceiver and an attractor. The term spider reflects the hackle style and not the insect. Its effectiveness often hinges more on its movement in the water than its resemblance to a specific insect or bait fish, although exceptions exist. When fish are keying in on a specific insect or bait fish, coloration and size do come into play. Consideration should also be given to water brightness and clarity. Wet flies excel in fast, turbulent water. A good tip is the larger the waves, the larger the fly. On Stillwater, use two wet flies in tandem and adjust the depth as needed.
