Description
The Hippie Stomper, created by Andrew Grillos. This fly is nearly as indestructible, becoming one of the most popular all-around attractor dry flies. It consistently catches fish regardless of the time of day, season of the year or type of water. Best in sizes 12-16. Keep several colors on hand, black and red are my favorite.
Pro Tip
This pattern is an excellent choice if your vision is not as sharp as it once was.

Recipe
- Hook: Short-shank wet/streamer or nymph hook
- Thread: Fine tying thread (neutral or matching main body color)
- Body: Foam body (slotted or wrapped foam)
- Hackle / Legs: Soft hackle or saddle hackle for legs and movement
- Tail (optional): Sparse soft-hackle fibers or foam weed guard
- Flash (optional): A few strands of flash material for added attraction
- Head / Finish: Thread wraps with head cement or varnish
