Graveyard Midge

Graveyard Midge is a fly pattern designed by John Wood, a signature tyer who created this highly effective pattern for tailwater and freestone rivers. Since its introduction, the Graveyard Midge has become a top producer in renowned fishing locations like the Guadalupe River in Texas, the South Platte in Colorado, and the Bighorn River in Montana. Known for its versatility, the Graveyard Midge is particularly effective during midge hatches when fish are feeding on pupae and emergers just beneath the surface.

Adjust depth to match the midge emergence – During midge hatches, fish can be found feeding in different layers of the water column. Adjust the depth of your Graveyard Midge by varying your retrieve or leader length to match where the midges are emerging. If fish are feeding just below the surface, fish the fly in the top foot of the water column; if they’re feeding deeper, fish it further down.
