Goldie fly pattern - Streamers streamer image

Description

The original Goldie Streamer was created by the late Dick Empie of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and tied by Dick Pearce of the United Fly Tyers of Rhode Island. Unlike traditional streamers designed to imitate baitfish, the Goldie was developed to replicate the flash and attraction of spinning lures, particularly the gold Phoebe spoon. Featuring a metallic gold body, reflective braid, and bead head, this distinctive pattern produces brilliant flashes of light underwater. Originally designed for trout and bass in ponds and rivers, the Goldie remains a unique example of combining conventional lure characteristics with traditional fly-tying techniques.

Curated by the IdentaFly fly fishing team.

Pro Tip

Fish the Goldie with short, sharp strips followed by a pause. The metallic braid flashes like a wounded baitfish, often triggering strikes as the fly slows or falls.
