Kelly Galloup’s UV Caddis Pupa is a streamlined pattern built to imitate a caddis pupa ascending through the water column, a stage trout often key on more than the adult. Designed with Galloup’s signature emphasis on profile and movement, the fly uses a sparse blend of UV ice dubbing to create the subtle shimmer of a natural pupa’s gas sheath—just enough flash to stand out without spooking selective fish.

When trout are feeding mid-column, cast slightly upstream and twitch slack into the line right as the fly begins to sink. That micro-tension pulse makes the UV dubbing flare for a split second—perfectly mimicking the natural pupa’s gas-bubble shimmer. Trout often eat immediately after that brief flash, long before the fly reaches the bottom.
