Dancing Frog

The Dancing Frog is a highly effective topwater fly designed to mimic the appearance and movement of a frog. With its spun deer hair body, large profile, and buoyant construction, this pattern creates substantial surface disturbance, making it irresistible to largemouth bass, pike, and other aggressive predators. The fly’s design allows it to “dance” across the water with enticing pops and gurgles, mimicking the erratic movement of a frog skimming across a pond or lake.

Fish the Dancing Frog in shallow water near lily pads, logs, or weed beds where frogs are naturally found. Use a floating line and short, quick strips to create popping sounds and splashes that mimic a fleeing frog. Pause between strips to allow the fly to sit still, which can trigger strikes from fish waiting to ambush. For best results, fish it during low-light conditions such as early morning, evening, or overcast days.
