About Weber River

The Weber River, a renowned Blue Ribbon fishery in Northern Utah, offers a diverse fly fishing experience across its 125-mile journey. This freestone river, originating in the Uinta Mountains, flows through varied terrain, providing habitat for grayling, brook, brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout. The Upper Weber, before Rockport Reservoir, presents freestone sections teeming with trout. Below Rockport, the Middle Weber transforms into a productive tailwater section flowing between Wanship and Coalville, known for its prolific insect life, including the famous Mother's Day Caddis, Golden Stoneflies, and PMDs. Anglers frequently target large brown trout in this section using streamers and nymphs, with popular access points like Creamery Lane and Spring Chicken. Further downstream, the Lower Weber, flowing through Weber Canyon from Echo Reservoir, offers opportunities to hunt for trophy-sized brown trout, with sow bugs, scuds, and midge larva providing year-round sustenance for trout, making it a viable winter fly fishing destination.
