Fly Fishing Stream Conditions Report: Bear Lake

Report Summary for Aug 2023

This year: Fishing on Bear Lake has been excellent, driven by successful collaborative conservation efforts that are visibly boosting the wild Bonneville cutthroat trout populations both in their spawning runs and throughout the lake itself. Anglers should focus on presentations that mimic local lake forage. Fishing balanced setups and indicators is highly effective for suspending flies at the right depth where active trout are patrolling. Make sure to pack a selection of productive patterns such as Rowley’s Black Sally, the Belly Flop Balanced Damsel, and Chan’s Balanced Ruby-Eyed Leech in black and red.

Prior years: No prior years report for this period.
