About Gallatin River
The Gallatin River is a premier Montana fly fishing destination, flowing north from Yellowstone National Park and offering approximately 100 miles of diverse water. You can expect to target Brown and Rainbow trout, with an occasional Cutthroat. Key hatches that drive the fishing include Caddis, Golden Stoneflies, and Spruce Moths, making it a prime location for matching the hatch. The river's accessibility is excellent, with Highway 191 running parallel to much of the river, providing numerous pull-offs and fishing access sites, making it ideal for both wading and short walks to the bank.
