Fly Fishing Stream Conditions Report: Selway River

Report Summary for Mar 2026

This year: The river is running high, around 8620 CFS, which is significantly up from last month's average of 2020 CFS. This month's average has been 6110 CFS, with flows reaching up to 11500 CFS. Fishing quality has been poor. Focus your efforts on the lower section, targeting the slow edges of the river and any still pools you can find. Nymphing is the way to go right now. Run some heavy Pat’s Rubber Legs, Jigged Batman, Atomic Stone, or a Double BH Stone as a point fly. Behind that run a mayfly pattern of your choosing. For flies, recommended patterns include Pat's Rubber Legs, Jigged Pheasant Tail, GT Triple Double Midge, Atomic Worm, and Two Bit Hooker. Mayfly patterns are also a good choice.

Prior years: No prior years report for this period.
