About Billingsley Creek
Billingsley Creek is an 8.5-mile tributary of the Snake River in Gooding County. The WMA itself covers 284 acres. Access is available via a dock, and there are no boat ramps or campgrounds on site. The creek flows through the Hagerman Valley, and you'll find a mix of bank and channel fishing here. The creek is managed for brown trout and rainbow trout, with both species observed in recent surveys. Recent stocking includes catchable-sized rainbow trout and brown trout fingerlings. You can also find redside shiner, Utah chub, and brown bullhead in the water. For brown trout and rainbow trout, focus on areas with structure. Look for drop-offs along the banks and any submerged timber. When targeting these fish, consider using nymphs that imitate small aquatic insects. Tight-lining or using a small indicator can be effective techniques. When working the water, pay attention to seams where faster and slower currents meet. This is where trout often hold. If you're wading, be mindful of your footing and the current.
