Green Drake

Description
The Green Drake is one of the most iconic and eagerly anticipated mayflies in the fly fishing world. Known for its large size, vibrant coloration, and dramatic hatches, the Green Drake is a favorite target for anglers. Found in both eastern and western waters, the Green Drake comes in slightly different forms depending on the region.
Eastern Green Drake (Ephemera guttulata): The Eastern Green Drake is one of the largest mayflies in North America, with olive-green bodies and intricately patterned wings. It typically emerges in late spring to early summer in slower-moving waters, where its hatches bring fish to the surface in a frenzy.
Western Green Drake (Drunella grandis): Smaller than its eastern counterpart, the Western Green Drake is still a prominent mayfly in rivers and streams across the Rockies and beyond. These mayflies hatch during late spring to mid-summer, often in cooler, faster-moving waters.
