Description
The Rogue Foam Stone, designed by Jack Schlotter of Medford, Oregon, is a highly effective dry fly pattern crafted to imitate adult stoneflies, particularly the Giant Salmonfly (Pteronarcys californica) and Golden Stonefly species. Its segmented foam body and deer or elk hair wing provide exceptional buoyancy, making it ideal for fishing in fast, turbulent waters where stoneflies are prevalent.
Pro Tip
Before fishing a Rogue Foam Stone, lightly scuff the underside of the foam abdomen with fine sandpaper—this breaks the surface tension just enough to let the fly ride half a millimeter lower, dramatically improving hook-ups on trout that short-strike high-floating stoneflies in slow glides and tailouts.
