Description
The Lucky B was created by Charlie Craven as a realistic wasp/Bee and yellow-jacket imitation after noticing how often trout stomach samples contained a single stinging insect. Built with foam segments, splayed legs, and a low-floating profile, it mimics the natural posture of a dying wasp struggling on the surface. Designed for late summer and early fall, it excels when trout key on terrestrials rather than hatch-driven patterns.
Pro Tip
Trim the underside of the abdomen slightly flatter than the top. This helps the fly land upright more consistently and sit lower in the film, matching the natural way real wasps ride on the water.
