Description

The original Clouser Minnow, designed by Bob Clouser, emerged as a smallmouth bass pattern in Pennsylvania, but its success has transcended its freshwater origins, gaining popularity worldwide. Originally featuring bucktail, this highly effective baitfish pattern has undergone various adaptations and is now utilized in both freshwater and saltwater environments. Whether imitating baitfish in rivers, lakes, or coastal waters. The Clouser Minnow's versatility and ability to mimic a wide range of prey have contributed to its status as a global angling staple.

Pro Tip

Fish the Clouser Minnow with a sinking or sink-tip line for deeper water or fast currents. Use short, sharp strips to imitate a darting baitfish, or longer, slower pulls for a steady swimming action. It’s particularly effective when worked near structures such as logs, weed beds, or drop-offs where predators are likely to ambush prey. Adjust your retrieve speed based on the target species and water conditions.

Clouser’s are great if fish are taking minnows and baitfish, and it is in my top 10 streamers for sure. I have probably caught many different species on this fly, salt water and fresh water. Among these being false albacore, pompano, red-band trout and carp.
