Brent's War Bird Soft Hackle fly pattern - Tenkara attractor image

Description

Brent’s War Bird Soft Hackle was created by Brent Auger, founder of DRAGONtail Tenkara, to quickly reach fish holding near the bottom of small rivers and deeper creek runs. Its heavy tungsten bead gets the fly down fast, while the colorful, buggy body and soft hackle create lifelike movement in the current. This versatile pattern is effective for trout and warm-water species when dead-drifted or swung.

Curated by the IdentaFly fly fishing team.

Pro Tip

Dead-drift the War Bird through the deepest part of the run, then allow it to swing and rise toward the surface. Be ready for a strike as the soft hackle opens and the fly begins to lift.
