Description
The Brassie was designed in the 1960s by fly tyers Ken Chandler, Tug Davenport, and Gene Lynch, who originally developed it for trout fishing on the Colorado River. This fly became popular due to its simple construction and ability to mimic small midges in various stages of their lifecycle. The name "Brassie" is due to the first flies being tied with Brass plated wire.
Pro Tip
Use a larger attractor dry fly as the indicator and drop the brassie below 5-9 inches during the hatch. The brassie at times goes unnoticed due to it small size.
