The Bone Appetite, crafted by Umpqua signature tyer Drew Chicone, is a refined flats fishing fly designed to target bonefish and other flats species. Drawing inspiration from the classic Crazy Charlie, Chicone elevated this pattern with modern materials and a more lifelike profile.

Before the cast, wet the rubber legs with saltwater and pull them taut once. This pre-loads the material so that when the fly lands, the legs relax and “breathe” immediately—mimicking a startled shrimp’s first flick. On pressured bones, that instant micro-movement often triggers the eat before the fly even moves.
