About Tarryall Reservoir
Tarryall Reservoir, a 175-acre State Wildlife Area in Park County, Colorado, is a popular destination for fly anglers targeting abundant rainbow and brown trout, as well as northern pike. The reservoir, fed by Tarryall Creek, offers extensive shoreline access for wading and boat launches, with productive fishing also found in the creek's pools and riffles. Anglers should be prepared to imitate key insect hatches including terrestrials, tricos, PMDs, caddis, midges, and BWOs. A 9-foot, 5-weight fly rod is recommended, and waders are essential for exploring the shallows and creek.
