Description
The Zug Bug nymph pattern was invented by Cliff Zug in the 1930’s as a caddis fly imitation. It is an all-purpose fly the works well for multiple insects and situations - a prospector, dropper, and even as a wet fly on the swing. Easily one of the top 10 nymph fly patterns of all time. Pro Tip – Try lifting and lightly twitching the rod tip mid-drift.
Pro Tip
At the end of the drift don't pull out of the water. Swing the fly and hold off from retrieving for a few seconds to let the fly rise in the water column.
