The Snowshoe Dun, developed by fly tyer Jim Cannon of the Blue Quill Angler in Evergreen, Colorado, is a refined mayfly imitation that utilizes snowshoe rabbit foot hair for its wing. This material choice enhances the fly's buoyancy and durability, making it particularly effective during Blue-Winged Olive (BWO) hatches.

Before fishing, lightly pinch the snowshoe wing with your fingertips to splay the fibers. This traps tiny air pockets and creates a shimmering halo on the water—an unmistakable “emerging dun” cue that convinces trout even in flat, technical water.
