Description
Developed by Kurt Shaffer of PGH Fly Co in 2023, the Golden quill stone was made for fishermen in the Midwest. Using quill wrap to mimic the body segments of the golden stonefly nymph, it’s best used in clear water.
Pro Tip
Mimic Molting Behavior: In mid-summer, golden stonefly nymphs molt frequently. Use a lighter golden or yellowish thread to slightly overwrap the quill thorax, creating a "molting" effect that can trigger strikes from opportunistic trout.
