Description

The Jigged CDC Pheasant Tail, produced by Umpqua Feather Merchants, is a modern adaptation of the classic Pheasant Tail nymph, originally developed by Frank Sawyer. This version incorporates a tungsten bead and a jig-style hook, allowing the fly to sink rapidly and ride hook point up, minimizing snags on the riverbed. The addition of a CDC collar imparts natural movement, enhancing its effectiveness in imitating mayfly nymphs

Pro Tip

Swing It in the Current: Use the Jigged CDC Pheasant Tail not only as a nymph but also on the swing. Cast across and slightly downstream, allowing the fly to rise naturally at the end of the drift, mimicking an emerging mayfly nymph rising to the surface. This can be especially effective during light hatches.
