ICU Midge

ICU Midge is a fly pattern designed by Umpqua Signature Tier Norman Maktima, created to provide a realistic "in the round" profile that makes it stand out as an attractor pattern for midges and even annelids. The fly’s slender body and tungsten bead ensure a fast sink rate, making it highly effective in various nymphing rigs. The ICU Midge works excellently as the lead fly in an in-line nymph rig, or as a dropper in a Euro nymphing setup. Additionally, its design makes it a versatile pattern that can be used on a dry/dropper rig, especially when fish are feeding just below the surface.

Use in fast-moving water for quicker sink rates – Due to the tungsten bead and slender profile, the ICU Midge sinks quickly, making it ideal for fast-moving currents. Use it in riffles or swift seams where the fish are feeding on midges drifting through the water. The fast sink rate ensures that the fly reaches the fish quickly, even in deeper sections of the river.
