Flick’s Phenom, originally conceived as a streamer by Umpqua Signature Tyer Flick Ford, is a dynamic fly designed to imitate baitfish and other aquatic prey in rivers and lakes. Ford crafted this pattern to balance realism and movement, utilizing materials that produce a lifelike shimmer and pulsating action underwater. Born from his observations of predator-prey interactions in the Pacific Northwest, this fly targets large, aggressive trout and other predatory fish. Flick’s Phenom excels in clear water, where its subtle flash and natural profile closely resemble struggling or injured minnows, making it irresistible to wary fish.

"Bounce and Skim" Tactic: Let Flick's Phenom hit bottom in deeper runs, then retrieve it with short hops, imitating a sculpin or bottom-dwelling baitfish. This works exceptionally well in undercut banks or behind submerged logs.
