The Bird of Prey Caddis, crafted by Rick Anderson has swiftly gained acclaim as a favored caddis pupa/emerger pattern. Featuring a weighted bead head, it excels in euro rigs or dry-dropper setups. The soft hackle flawlessly mimics the emerging pupa, proving especially effective on the swing or at the end of the drift.

Fish the Bird of Prey Caddis near the bottom during caddis hatches, allowing it to drift naturally with the current. At the end of the drift, raise your rod tip to mimic an emerging caddis pupa rising to the surface, which can trigger strikes from trout. Experiment with different color variations—such as tan, brown, olive, black, and burnt orange—to match local caddis species and increase effectiveness.
