Big Gulp Sculpin

The Big Gulp Sculpin, designed by Mike McCune over two decades ago, was initially crafted to imitate sculpins and blackfish native to Southwest Alaska. Over time, its color variations have expanded to represent forage fish species worldwide. The fly's effectiveness stems from its combination of rabbit fur and marabou, which impart lifelike movement, while the deer hair collar enhances body animation. Weighted with lead eyes, it maintains a deep presentation, making it a versatile choice for various fishing conditions.

During colder months, present the fly with a slow, steady retrieve near the bottom, as fish are less active and more likely to respond to a subtle approach.
