Description
The Autumn Splendor is a Western streamer pattern developed by Colorado guide Tim Heng in the Roaring Fork Valley. Inspired by the vibrant colors of fall and the aggressive behavior of pre-spawn brown trout, Heng adapted elements from bass flies—like rubber legs and cone heads—into a trout-optimized design. It quickly became a fall favorite across freestone rivers and has been widely adopted by streamer anglers targeting large trout in transitional seasons. The name reflects both its effectiveness during autumn and its vivid, mottled color scheme.
Pro Tip
Fish the Autumn Splendor along cutbanks and under overhanging brush using short, rapid strips—this mimics sculpins or crayfish fleeing cover, triggering ambush strikes from territorial trout.
